Hello! I’m a first time user for this sort of project. I’ve used power and hand tools before before so am not a complete amateur but haven’t undertaken a wood working project before. I’m after some advice if anyone could help please.

Firstly. I like the look and shape of the straight kegger bar but am not planning on putting a kegger unit in it so will probably just have an open back for fridge space. I’m trying to get a sort of old rustic rough sawn look on the wood prior to staining. What sort of saw do you think would be best given what I’m after and my limited experience? A jigsaw or a circular saw?

Secondly. I’m from the UK. Does anyone know a good place to buy the required wood from? It seems the US has loads of options but not so much in the UK.

And finally, does anyone have any other ideas or advice for a first timer?

    Thanks!

    Dan.

Dan: You shouldn’t have any trouble building the core of the bar. To get the rough sawn look on the front, I would first sheet it with something cheap, like 1/2″ OSB or the cheapest plywood you can find, then cover that with a factory rough sawn product, like cedar or rough cut pine. Even half log tongue & groove siding would look nice. Can’t help you on lumber sources in the UK, but maybe Google could help. Good luck and have fun!
