Most of the posts on here seem a little old and I am still a little uncertain as to how to install a purchased kegerator into either the straight kegger bar layout or l-shaped bar layout. I think i want to buy a kegerator instead of building the keg box. Mainly because i am worried about getting the beer cold enough and because i think it would be easier than building the keg box. Can anyone tell me if they have done this and were able to put in a kegerator and have the tap coming out of the bar top? Another concern is that the kegerator i want to buy is listed at 35″ in height, is that going to be too tall or will it fit? I have not started building anything yet until I know for sure what is going to work. Thank you for your advice.

I’m interested in this as well for the same reason. Feedback would be appreciated from anyone who has worked with a store bought kegerator.

Many people have done this. In most cases (every kegerator is a little different) the tap tower is removed, them mounted to the bar top. The new gap between the tower and the units is closed using PVC drain pipe filled with spray foam insulation.

Alternately, you can notch the bar top and slide the unit right into place. See the builder’s gallery for examples, there are many.
