I’m currently in the planning stages for my finished basement (by planning, read “the fun tool buying stage”).

Does anyone see any problem with building the Kegger Bar and the Back Bar together, forming a U, with the backbar against the wall?

I’m thinking I may need to put the fridge on the inside, but more importantly the door to the keggerator on the outside of the U so that I can still get the Keg in.

      Has anybody tried this?

      Cheers,
      Geoff.

This is exactly what I am planning on doing. I modified the L-shaped Kegger plan (dimensions as well as putting the fridge in inside corner). So far, I have the framing done, the counters on, and I JUST finished the keg box (I’m giving it a test run without the door even started – already down to 39F after 30 minutes with just a scrap piece of 1.5″ insulation as a makeshift door). I am pleasantly suprised how efficient it is.

For mine, I kept the door behind the bar or “inside” of the U. There is plenty of room. I’m sure you could put the door on the outside, but I’m not sure how it would look… it all comes down to your skill at finishing everything well and personal preference at that point :)

        Good Luck!

Ah, I see now that the deluxe combo is in the works, and it’s just what I’m looking for (except I need the U open on the left instead of the right). There’s a picture of it on the home page, and hopefully the plans come out in March. I can’t wait!

For yours, where is the kegerrator in the layout, if you can still get the keg door on the inside?

          Thanks,
          Geoff.

            Geoff:

Is there a room behind the wall that your bar back is against?
If so, consider knocking a hole through the wall and placing the fridge , or a portion of the fridge behind the wall.

You should have plenty of room to access the keg box from behind the bar, which is the best side to place the keg box door.

            Cheers!
