I like the idea of a brushed on lacquer (no sanding between coats) but am unsure about the durability under moisture prone conditions. Any idea about how it would hold up on the bar top?

If you wipe up any spills the little moisture that is left behind would evaporate in no time and be dry again. Are you worried about wear from being the continuous or repeated use in one spot ? Occasionally add a layer to the area then.
Or, is this bar going to be outside in the elements of humidity ?

The bar is inside. Most of the bar top will be done in Envirotex to make it flush with the arm rest, arm rail, whatever….. I’m sure that the vertical surfaces will be fine with 3-4 coats of lacquer. It’s 4-1/2″ of horizontal arm rest that runs around the front and sides that I am not sure about.
I’m going to apply 5-6 coats of lacquer there and see how it holds up.
