I would really like to see plans for the “boxes” (not sure what they are called) you sometimes find mounted to the ceiling over the bar. I built an 8 foot straight bar in my basement and mounted cabinets and countertops behind it, but I still need something overhead to make it stand out.
Anyone built one of these? I have floor joists that run overhead in the perfect spot over my bar, so I am thinking about building a simple rectangle from 2 x 4s and screwing them into the floor joists. I would then need to build some type of “box” that I can simply attach to the 2×4 structure. I also have a can light that would fit inside the box that I could use for a power source for some type of lighting on the bottom of the box.
Anyway, I’d love to see pics or hear ideas from anyone that has tried this.
