    Obviously, the more space the better. However, as a general rule allow approximately 60” on all sides to allow for cue clearance for rail shots without requiring you to elevate the butt of the cue stick. If you need to sacrifice some space, do so on the longer rails as the opportunity for shots across the pool table are fewer than down the length. Not preferred but if space is tight, purchase a short stick for the side rail shots.
