    Thought I would add my experience here too. I used the EL (Envirotex Lite) over slate tile. The tiles are various thicknesses so they are not smooth. My bar is the 45-degree design measuring aprox. 4’x9’x18″ which basically comes out to 15 sq. ft. I ordered my EL on line for about $60 for a gallon. It was not enough. There were many places where the tiles were sticking out. I had to buy another 1/2 gal of EL. After this layer, I still have a few “Character” spots that you can feel or see at the right angle, but it looks great! The thickness variations with the EL gives the bar tremendous depth and visual interest. The EL is definately the way to go to make a great bartop!

    I think the glue you apply will be enough. The envirotex is pretty thick and will cover but probably not soak in at all.
