roto razer review

overpriced – poor customer service

As Seen on TV Gadget Review

Recently I caught an early morning TV commercial for the RotoRazer Saw  – it is basically a small circular saw that will handle material up to about 3/4″ thick. Fine for detail work. This item is also listed on Amazon along with reviews. See listing below.

Initially this product caught my eye and the first thought was that this would be a great alternative for heavy hand saws. The commercial was informative and pointed out plenty of small jobs that a hand held circular saw can do, however the woodworking market already offers circular hand saws without all the gimmicky ads making my decision very easy.

Unfortunately reviews of this product are not up to par. Questionable quality, exaggerated claims in the commercial and 25% of reviews are 1 star. That’s enough for me. You can buy it on Amazon so their policies would likely ensure a better customer service experience.

Reasons to shop around:

  • First – it’s just another one of those “As Seen on TV” gimmick tool products marketed by Ideal Living and likely made in China. So far, reviews on Amazon have been less than stellar. Customer service and billing problems are frequently reported with ASOTV.
  • Second – at $179.95 it’s over priced as compared to similar circular saw cutting tools. UPDATE – It’s now priced at $129.00.
  • Third – why buy overpriced hype when you can buy a reliable name brand circular hand saw for less? The best selling Dremel model, the SM20-02 120-Volt Saw-Max will deliver reliable performance for around a hundred bucks. Not happy with your purchase? Amazon won’t yank you around on a return if needed. According to reviews, IL tends to be very difficult in addressing returns.Update: the RotoRazer price has come down some and is now available with Prime shipping. Judge for yourself.

Will either vendor send us a unit to torture test and evaluate? It’s up to them. Contact Us.
