Question: I am going to attempt to build the straight bar. I have changed the measurements to make it only 54″ long instead of 8 feet. I want to build a shelf in the inside of the unit about midway up. What extra steps do I need to do?

Answer: Once you have framed the bar up, just measure the inside width and length. Cut a 1/2″ piece of plywood and two 2×4 end support pieces the same width as you self. Afix the two supports to either end about midway up. Lay the shelf sheet on top of the end supports.

TIP: if there is any sag in the shelf, you can simply add a middle support frame or add a lower 2×4 support the length of the shelf to make it “stiffer”.
