Hey guys, great site! L shaped wer bar w/ kegerator is all framed out, and the oak plywood will be going on soon…OK……on to the question!
I’ve seen a few bars in pictures with contrasting colored stains, and I’m trying to figure out a cobmination that will work well.(one color on top, one on base/trim, etc) I like the cherry look and was thinking that a dark color may look good with it. I know this is a preferance thing, but it is a pretty big decision – anyone that has done (or seen) something similar and it turned out well, please share your thoughts.

      Thanks a lot!!!

Did you come up with any final ideas? I am doing my bar with clear maple as the bar top and corrugated tin roofing for the front facing of the bar. As for my trim I am trying to decide whether to use a simple gloss or semi gloss black paint or just a dark stain. any ideas from what you ended up doing? Thanks!

      Cheers!

I just went with “red oak” stain on the whole thing….2 coats to darken it up a bit. If you are thinking about black paint or a dark stain, I think minwax makes a “polystain” product with black as the color….I considered using that on an image I burnt into the front of my bar. It will get the dark look, but still show the nice grain of the wood. Good Luck – my bar is all done, but I still gotta upload my pics.
