      Hi.

I am new this this site and forum. I have an old bar already built into my basement. I would rather rip the whole thing out and start fresh but my wife is against it. So anyway. I am trying to plan on how to overhall the bar. I like the ideas for the 8′ kegger bar. My bar right now is 8′ long but not as deep. I am planning on adding some depth towards the back to create the same depth as the plans. From the floor to the support for the top is 36″. I want to add the keg box to the bar but am looking out for the future when I start kegging my home brew beer so I need to make sure there is enough clearance for the corny kegs. The floor is 3″ cement with tiles on top. So I was wondering if it was possible to use the tiled floor for the bottom of the kegger box since the floor seems to always remain cool. Any thoughts on that.

Also, what is the measurement between the bar top and the worktable top. Or is that based on personal taste.

        B:

I would HIGHLY recommend NOT using the floor as the bottom of the keg box. Most earth contact structures remain at 52 degrees and trying to make the floor colder is like trying to cool your backyard in the summer by keeping the door open and letting the AC out. It’s a loosing battle.

What I might recommend is to lay at least one sheet of insulation and a 3/4″ plywood floor between the basement floor and the keg. You can use thinner stuff than the ProPink 1.5″ thick stuff. I see a few people using the 3/4″ insulation with a thin reflective aluminum film on each side.
Not sure what the R rating is, but it would be better than nothing.
